11- year Steve Vai member, Dave Weiner, is releasing his second album titled "On Revolute." This album features 76 minutes of contemporary progressive guitar instrumentalism. Along with the release of this album, Dave is giving you a chance to win a custom 7-string Ibanez LACS. (LA Custom Shop) Other prizes in the giveaway include an ipad, effects pedals, solid cables, amplitube 3 software, and tons more. Giveaway ends at 3000 orders. All pre-ordered copies will be personally autographed. To enter go to: www.daveweiner.com/usstore.html"Dave has a focused vision and great passion for his work. 'On Revolute' is a reflection of his evolution within his world of rich guitar textures and melodies." -Steve Vai Here are some samples of the CD; www.daveweiner.com/index.htmlI just talked with Dave, and the order is around 1000 right now. 1 in 3000 chance is pretty good odds, to win a guitar like this. Only two like this were made, and Dave is keeping the other one. Actually, this is the last guitar Dave had Ibanez make for him. He switched over to PRS.

I've tried several FX modelers and processors. I've gone back to stomp boxes, and my old delays, loopers, etc. Most of the time, I play one of my tube amps, with a screaming demon, distortion, compression, and a couple delays. (one set up short, and one set up long) I'll post some of my gear later. My studio these days is just a spare room in my house.

I like gadgets but find they really wont help me to just be me. What i do lately is throw on a 'Jam Track' MP3 and experiment with riffs and the modes. www.guitarchaos.com has some good freebies

I like this Les Paul look-a-like too, for a few reasons, but I mostly dislike it. What I dislike is 7-string. I'm not a 7-string fan... I prefer a baritone guitar... "extended range" tuned to B or C Like my Schecter C-1 EX Baritone Blackjack Guitar. 26.5" scale set neck. Seymour Duncan JB and '59 pickups, TonePros TOM string-thru-body bridge, Grover tuners, and Black chrome hardware. (ooOooooOooo ) String gauge - It comes from the factory with 62-48-38-28-17-13 and Baritone tuning (B). Factory Tuning is B/E/A/D/F#/B I have 56-46-36-26W-17-13 on it now for Drop C tuning. I went from the 62 to the 56 to get good tension on the low C It gets so low and chunky... it makes the chix moist. I have really big hands, so 26.5" scale is perfect for me. I do fine on 25.5"... but these 24.75" necks are cramped. I can still shred them, but I hate to go below the 15th fret. I mainly use the shorter scale guitars for the old classics which were mostly chords with an 8-bar lead run. I hate the green color, and the "bird" seems slightly gay to me. What I really like is the ash body!! maple neck...and maple fretboard! Did you see the video where Dave points out how the guitar is weight balanced?.... not tail heavy like a regular Les Paul. It has black hardware...which I like...although black chrome is my favorite. I hate bright chrome, nickel, or german silver hardware. If I were to win this guitar, I'd sell it. I have no desire to even play it... but I am picky that way. 3000;1 odds is pretty dang good for a $15 CD entry fee. I do like the music Dave and Vai serve up, and that's generous coming from a total Satch groupie.

Awah dang it! I was seeing if I could post a YouTube video... no luck. Is that feature not working? Okay...I figured out how to post a video...but can you get rid of the crappy ad that leeches on with it? This video is showing one reason I hate Vai. I'm jealous as Orianthi is .... lemme just say... I'd go to prison !

I'd go to prison ! I have a few Vai CD's but it is too extreme for me.... I have been getting more into the whole song so to say as opposed to just the guitar....Govt Mule has been kicking my butt lately...they make some really good tunes. No I dont think you can drop the ad. I have 2 YJM Strats...thats about all the strange instrument I own.....right now I tote my Les Paul Traditional Pro with me in the truck....I run it through a Roland Micro Cube.... it is sweet

Yer not gonna like it. You'd be better off with a Mexican strat.
Chinese do make some nice guitars, but they also make a lot more crappy ones. They are not consistent like the Japanese.

I like about 6 Vai songs to be honest. He reminds me too much of Zappa. I only liked a few of Zappas crappa. I'm waaaay into instrumentals. I guess it's because I can't sing to save my life... and I've tried. Well... I can do some stuff...like ZZ Top kinda stuff... but seriously, I suck!! I can't ebben dew back ground vocal.

I have a small Peavey S/S 30w practice amp that gives me a good Jazz or Country tone. (I'll post photos later) If I were to spring for another small studio amp...I really like this Peavey JSX Mini Tube amp. (dang thing is pricey though) Very special little 8" speaker. Like I've said though...I am a St.Triani disciple.

Here is something cool:
I have myself one of those Vox headphone amps.... it sounds awesome.
I plug in my MP3 player to it...connect my axe....throw on the headphones and can wail away without the outside world being disturbed....great for those nights when one cannot sleep.

I used a "Dean Stack In A Box" headphone amp, and it was okay...especially for taking along in the Truck, as it packed easily in the guitar case. What I went to later was a Digitech GNX4 processor. That also has a headphone privacy feature, as all my amps do too. Worked real well on the truck, because up where I live...all the trucks have APU's, so you have plenty of 110v. They quit making the GNX series processors, and gone to RP units. Total shame.... but that's what happens when you hire richard cranium marketing weenies who only think in terms of $$$... not what artists want.

....Govt Mule has been kicking my butt lately...they make some really good tunes. I'm a huge fan! I go back to the Allman Brothers era. (I started playing guitar in 1964...) I'm too sick right now to play my guitar, (I'm on chemo) but when I get better...I'd like to copy this tasty riff. I'm not a fan of heavy death metal, so I'm not an Arch Enemy fan...but Chris Amott really has a nice simple slow solo here... he reminds me of Gilmour's talent of putting together tasty slow runs. BTW... heh heh... I'm 4 years younger than Nuge, and 4 years older than Satriani. I've been around a lot over the years...but not someone you would have heard of. I'm always in the shadows. I use to party with Ted, and also was buds with Alice Cooper, Jerry Garcia, Van Morrison, slept in Grace Slicks bed, got in fights with Sammy Hagar, because we dated the same chick, live next door to Steven Stills and two blocks away from Carlos Santana, yada, yada... long list.
