July 17, 2010 Atkinson woman may have been texting before fatal crashHAVERHILL — A young Atkinson woman may have been texting before a horrific highway crash with two tractor-trailers which took her life early this morning. "We are investigating (texting) as contributing factor," said state police spokesman David Procopio. Kelsey A. Richardson, 21, of Atkinson, was pronounced dead at the scene. Rescue personnel responded to the accident about 4:17 a.m. today on Interstate 495 north, just before Exit 51. Trooper Matthew Topping reported that a vehicle traveling northbound lost control and went off the road and struck the guardrail next to the left lane. The vehicle then spun back into the highway and hit a tractor-trailer in the right travel lane, the press release said. After striking the first tractor-trailer, Richardson was ejected from her vehicle and was then hit by a second tractor-trailer that was driving in the middle lane, the press release said. Based on vehicle damage, troopers cannot determine if the driver wore a seat belt. No citations are expected to be issued, the press release said. Earlier this month, a bill banning texting while driving was signed into law. That law goes into effect this fall. Please stay with The Eagle-Tribune for more information. That is disgusting and I don't need to see the video to know that. I have forbidden my son to have his phone on while he is driving because even if he doesn't text just taking his eyes off the road when if it goes off is distraction enough.
Very heart breaking, I can't even imagine how the parents are feeling right now.

Its death...doing what it does
She could have been doing many things instead of driving....but that would not have changed
fate.
