After many years of fine service, my machine gave up the ghost. I've been struggling to keep her alive as long as I could. But, alas she passed on a few days ago. www.youtube.com/watchv=SGnZxcS7VKA&feature=relatedIn honor of the many fine years I had with her, I got me a new machine, that carrys the same name. Compaq Presario. Just a more "up to date" version. Not top of the line, but more than adequete for my usage. Even got a new aircard. Not to fond of the usb vice slotted card. But....I ain't complainin'.

Wingman
Just last month I got a new phone, I didn't like my new one either at first. Everything was in a different place, none of my contacts, preferences, etc were there. It sucked. But then I downloaded my itunes library to my phone. Awe bliss! I now love my new phone. I need to get some applications for it but I manage the touch screen so much better. And my purse has only dialed a few numbers (cheesey grin). I thought I was going crazy when my purse was talking to me, "hello, hello are you gonna answer me??"
Good times!

LMAO, Miss D (not with you...at you. ) j/k Although I knew the 'puter was just about done, I was prograstinating backing up some stuff. The night it died, I could reboot but would not stay up, and crash again. I scrabbled to find a CD ready for reading, but alas I couldn't keep the 'puter on long enough to back up some files. I'll give it another try when I have more time. Hopefully I can get it on life support long enough to transfer them to CD.

I'd transfer to a flash/usb drive. Open the hierarchy folder system and click drap entire folders at once. My sister had a nasty virus on her harddrive. But was able to quickly transfer her documents folder and photofolder. As long as your computer is infection free I'd try to copy over the email folders too. I wasn't sure how she got the virus so we left files like that alone.
What happened to it anyway? Motherboard, fans, or drives quit?
My homecomputer is an 07, which in computerese is prehistoric, I'm sure. I know the fan has never really functioned properly so I'm sure the damn thing overheats. Plus when I was adding memory to it (last year??) I was told that the hard drive was probably close to failing.
I have backed up things, and now a days I tend to carry most of my important stuff on my key chain. Can't go anywhere with out keys, so I almost never forget my flash at school. Frees up a lot of working memory.

What happened to it anyway? Motherboard, fans, or drives quit? It was about 5years old. A few months back the fan went out. Been using a cooling pad, to keep the heat at bay. But...what really did it in was the RAM. It just couln't handle the memory problems any longer. I really had the machine down to its bare essentials. It would take forever to boot up, then log into the net..etc. It would occassionally crash, but would always come back up. Till the day it died. I could start up, log into the net, but in a matter of a few minutes it would crash, just continued to do that. I've been eyeballin' new computers for a few months. Just needed the excuse to go and get one. I have backed up things, and now a days I tend to carry most of my important stuff on my key chain. Can't go anywhere with out keys, so I almost never forget my flash at school. Frees up a lot of working memory. Unless you lose your keys.
