HAMPTON, New Hampshire (NEWS CENTER) -- The Hampton tolllaza, notorious for long lines of traffic on summer and holiday weekends, is set to open the first highway speed toll collection lanes in New England. "It is a project that we are excited about," said New Hampshire Department of Transportation public information officer Bill Boynton. "Sometimes people only notice transportation when it fails, but in this case, I think it will be something for motorists to embrace who use electronic tolling." Starting early Friday morning, motorists with E-Z Pass transponders will be able to drive straight through the toll plaza without slowing down. Customers who need to pay with cash will be directed to regular toll booths to the right of the high speed lanes. "If you do not have E-Z Pass and you go through the open toll lanes, we'll send you a bill for the cost of the toll plus a one dollar administration fee," explained Boynton. "Absolutely do not stop when you are traveling through here, it would be a very serious safety issue. www.wcsh6.com/news/local/stor...118338&catid=2
