I am looking for some ideas as to what I should put together in a small tool box that I would be able to carry with me on the days that I work. I need some help with some of the more size specific things like the little brass (I think) piece that goes on the air line just before the glad hand, and any other nuts, bolts, or fittings that are easy to carry around. So far I have the following: vice grips wire cutter/stripper wire crimps electrical tape duct tape adjustable wrench Need to get: hose clamps wrench to adjust brakes (need to know size) Seems like there is quite a bit more, but I am drawing a blank tonight.

I see have adjustable wrench I always carried at least 2 adjustables. Never know when you need a little extra leverage for that tough nut. I have seen some nice tool kits with a little of everything. I agree with Fredog on the prybar about a 3 footer. Great for leverage and pulling nails. Zip ties-asst'd lengths scissors disposable cig lighter. Better yet get one of those lighters for bbq grills.Wire strips so much easier when heated. Never know when you might need a little heat Small tube of silicone caulking for patching leaky rivets or small hole or a busted seam.

Thanks for all the ideas so far...keep 'em coming I never thought of the lighter, but it is a very good idea. I carry one of those lights that goes on your head with me all the time. It's so much easier to do things when you don't have to hold on to a flashlight Also, what is the standard size for airhose on a truck? Want to pick up some fittings to fix the hose if need be.

I know this is a day late and a dollar short but I would like to add a few suggestions .....
When you get those water / hose clamps....get the good ones! Don't get the crummy ones from auto part stores or wall mart. Especially if it is yours.
Also, a good pair of "TRUCK" ( heavy duty ) jumper cables.
As far as fittings.....I'm sure that the hoses are nylon....You'll want 1/4" to 1/2 ". You will also have smaller air lines on the transmission to the shifter, not sure what those are. Sunshine mentioned a lighter, I went one step farther and got the butane bottle with the "torch" ends. Also if you are running an inverter, a drop light and extension cord may be useful. Also a good knife or razor blade to cut the nylon hosing. A few rubber tarp straps come in handy as well. A few misc. 1/4", 3/8" and / or 1/2" bolts and screws. Also a good pipe wrench. And a Hammer!
